Morgul-Knife (Shadowspear) Exxaxl: Shadowspear was one of the cards I first noticed becoming expensive because of Commander

Rules and How it Plays Given that its been steadily evolving since 1993 and now has high prize-money tournaments, the full rules of Magic have become extraordinarily complex

Plenty of goblin decks care about the number of goblins you have out, especially ones built around Krenko, Mob Boss or Muxus, Goblin Grandee

Banned firstly to spare judges that chicanery and later to spare Legacy players the torture of Counterbalance, Top remains an ultrastaple in Commander and still finds yet new ways to be absurdly busted every year or two

This was widely seen as a mistake, even by MTG's Head Designer Mark Rosewater, and since then WotC has been much more careful when printing partner commanders, instead focusing lately on cards that can only be partners with one other specific creature
