counterspell mtg cards Magic: The Gathering (069) Lightly Played Counter target spell. Rules Text: Counter, target, spell,

In my preview article when I introduced this card, I talked about how it got created, but I left off an important little factoid

The deck lists roughly adhere to Frank Karsten's land count calculator as well as his mana sources calculator, with the notable exception being that I chose to run Knight of the White Orchid with only 26 white sources that can cast it on-curve despite Frank recommending 30 white sources to cast a WW spell on turn 2 consistently

Hi-ho the derry-o, the Cheese Stands Alone

Dark Prophecy is hard to cast, but if youre running Baba Lysaga, Night Witch, dont you want Grim Haruspex

This isnt news to anyone whos been playing Magic a while, and the most powerful Reanimator decks in Constructed have always included incidental discard spells like Unmask to help enable their broken first-turn plays
