Abstract Pacific speed built in his garage inDevon shot this at Colony Point in Malibu by holding the shutter open and panning the camera horizontally during the exposure the Pacific blurs into clean bands of color, sky and water no longer distinguishable as separate things. The technique is called intentional camera movement; the result depends entirely on speed and angle of the pan, which is why no two frames come out the same.
