Lot 115 - Pair of Vintage Lega Lukwakongo Carved Wood Masks with Raffia Beards, Democratic Republic of the Congo 1645 with long bonnet ties drapedPair of vintage Lega Lukwakongo carved wood masks from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Both masks feature heart shaped faces with kaolin pigment, narrow slit eyes, and vertical ridged noses characteristic of the Lega tradition. Each mask retains attached raffia fiber beard material at the chin. One mask has a lighter overall surface with a prominent central vertical ridge running from forehead to chin, while the other has a darker brown surface
